On July 9th the Family Genomics team gathered for their Annual Review meeting, themed "Elevating Research Excellence: Pathways to Publication and Career Advancement." The event, held at the Hamilton Institute, provided a platform for reflection, planning, and professional development, fostering an environment of collaboration and growth.
The meeting commenced on a warm and inviting note, with team members enjoying tea, coffee, and cake. This set a pleasant tone for the day's proceedings, promoting a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
The formal session began with a review of the 2023/2024 period, focusing on last year's theme: “Research Collaboration and Consolidation: Advancing Together for Progress.” Each team member delivered a ten-minute update on their progress, celebrating milestones and achievements from a productive year. This reflective session highlighted the significant strides made in collaborative research and the consolidation of efforts towards common goals.
Looking ahead, the team discussed their plans for 2024/2025, with a strong emphasis on publications and professional development. Each member presented their future plans structured around SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound). This approach ensured clear, actionable objectives, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
A key highlight of the meeting was the interactive session on the "Barriers & Enablers to Publication," led by Christiane O'Brien. This session encouraged open dialogue and the sharing of experiences, providing valuable insights into overcoming challenges in the publication process. The collaborative nature of the discussion underscored the team's commitment to supporting each other in achieving academic excellence.
The day concluded with a "Family Sleep Keepers" session, led by Cathy Wise. Dr Lorna Lopez, our Principal Investigator, delivered a round-up and conclusion which celebrated past achievements and laid a clear, positive and ambitious path for the future.
